The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to add “some young blood” to their defensive line this offseason, which is why they’re deep into their homework on this year’s rookie class. Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant shared on Wednesday that he already had a formal meeting with the Steelers at the NFL Scouting Combine.

“Yeah, I met with the Steelers, very serious,” Grant said. “They want competitors. They want dudes that are ready to go.”

Grant is a very realistic option for the Steelers at pick No. 21. He is viewed as one of the best defensive linemen in the 2025 NFL Draft after recording 61 tackles, 6.5 sacks and one interception over the past two years at Michigan.

The 21-year-old has gone a bit overlooked since he played next to defensive lineman Mason Graham, who some believe will be selected within the top five picks. However, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah thinks Steelers fans should be pumped if he falls to them at pick No. 21.

The Steelers aging defensive line could look very different next season. Cameron Heyward will turn 36 this offseason and soon-to-be 31-year-old Larry Ogunjobi has been named a potential cut candidate.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, the 2025 NFL Draft is deep with defensive line talent and Grant is one of the best. He could not only serve as Heyward’s future replacement, but he could also start Day 1 if needed.

The biggest question is: Will Grant still be on the board when the Steelers are put on the clock?
