Steelers Have Worst Super Bowl Odds of Playoff Teams
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the tournament, as head coach Mike Tomlin likes to say, and in a single-elimination affair, anything can happen, but the odds say the Steelers are a heavy long shot. The Steelers have the worst Super Bowl odds of any team in the playoff picture, according to odds posted on Tuesday by FOX.
The Steelers have +9,000 odds to win Super Bowl LIX, which will be played in New Orleans next month. That’s down from +5,000 odds before the season.
Pittsburgh has the worst odds despite being the No. 6 seed in the AFC, partially because the oddsmakers like their first-round opponent, the third-seeded Baltimore Ravens, even more than the No. 2 seed in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills.
The Detroit Lions have the best overall odds at +280, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs at +350. Both of those teams have first-round byes. Then comes the Ravens at +600m the Bills at +650, and the Philadelphia Eagles at +700.
The seeding and the odds don’t match farther down the board in the AFC, either. The No. 5-seeded Los Angeles Chargers have the next-best Super Bowl odds at +2,800, well ahead of the No. 4 seeded Houston Texans, who have the second-worst odds at +8,000.
The No. 7-seeded Denver Broncos have the 12th-best odds at +6,500, with all three of the bottom teams coming out of the top-heavy AFC.
This week, the Steelers opened as 7.5-point underdogs to the Ravens, and that number has ballooned to 9.5 since the pairing was announced on Sunday.
