Cam Heyward is set to compete in the First Annual Jasmine Nyree Campus Celebrity Golf Classic according to the tournaments’ Twitter page. Heyward joins former Steelers’ legends Jerome Bettis and Hines Ward as participants.
Heyward is well-regarded around Pittsburgh as a charitable man and was recognized for his humanitarian efforts from the NFLPA in week nine of 2019. Heyward, Bettis and Ward are all known for their charitable off-the-field work, so it comes as no surprise to see them compete in a charitable celebrity golf tournament.
The tournament is set to take place on June 13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Olde Stone Wall Golf Course in Ellwood City. The course was one of Golf Magazine‘s “Top 10 New Public Golf Courses” when it debuted in 1999 and has been named in the Top 50 Public Courses in the United States” by Golf Digest.
The tournament is to raise money for the Jasmine Nyree Campus, a multi-service campus and community center designed to address multiple needs including residential services and programs in the Special Needs Community in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden community, founded by former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter and his wife, Christy. It is named for their daughter Jasmine, who has autism.
“This is home for us,” Porter said to Steelers.com when the center opened in 2021. “My kids graduated from high school here. There is no better place to do it. To be in the position to give back, help people who can’t help themselves, and do this for my daughter Jasmine, it comes full circle.”
Sponsorship prices for the tournament range from $300 to $25,000.
