Steelers Host Former 2nd-Round WR for Free Agent Visit

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted free agent wide receiver Terrace Marshall for a visit to UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Tuesday, according to a report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC-TV.
Marshall, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers out of LSU in 2021. Marshall played in 36 games over three seasons in Carolina, catching 26 of 46 targets for 808 yards and one touchdown. He never lived up to the potential represented by his draft stock, and Marshall was released coming out of training camp in August.
Marshall caught on with the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, but was released in October without appearing in a game. He then signed with the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad and was elevated for seven games, and one start. He caught three passes for 41 yards on the season.
A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, Marshall was a big part of one of the best teams in LSU history in 2019, winning a national championship as the third receiving target for Joe Burrow behind Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
Marshall caught 46 passes for 671 yards as a sophomore that season. He was expected to take on a bigger role in 2020, but that didn’t materialize. Marshall was limited to seven games, and out-gained by freshman outside receiver Keyshon Boutte.
The 6-foot-2 1/3, 205-pound Marshall showed impressive athleticism at the 2021 LSU pro day. He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash and posted a 39-inch vertical and a 10-foot-5 broad jump for a 9.76 overall Relative Athletic Score out of 10.
Marshall could be a complementary outside receiver for the Steelers behind DK Metcalf and George Pickens, as well as a backup for those two players, something the team is largely lacking on its 90-man offseason roster.
