The Steelers are hosting former Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Wildcats defensive back Jace Whittaker for a tryout, according to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network.

Whittaker recently had a work out with the Houston Texans on Monday. The Steelers are dealing with injuries in the secondary between William Jackson III, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Whittaker can play both inside and outside at cornerback with his versatility.

Whittaker signed with the Cardinals out of the 2020 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. He played in nine games during his time in Arizona, including 3 games in 2022. He started one game earlier this year against the Los Angeles Rams and recorded a pass deflection in that game.

During his time with the Wildcats, Whittaker registered seven interceptions, 6.5 tackles for loss, 34 pass deflections, and 137 tackles over his four-year career. He was released from the Cardinals practice squad last week on November 9th, and has received looks from teams since then.

It appears that Jace Whittaker could fit the experienced type of cornerback that Pittsburgh could look for with some injuries in the room at this point. With his versatility as well, if the tryout goes well, the Steelers could look to add Whittaker to their practice squad.
