The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in massive Iowa defensive tackle Yahya Black for a top-30 visit at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Friday.

Black stands at 6-foot-6, 336 pounds and has 35-inch arms. Black started at defensive tackle in all 13 games, for the Hawkeyes in 2024, recording 34 tackles (18 solo, 16 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, two pass break-ups,two quarterback pressures, and one blocked field goal. Black, who started 27 games for Iowa in his five years with the program, eceived honorable mention for All-Big Ten last season.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan discussed at his NFL Scouting Combine press conference that the team likely will be looking to make a splash acquisition on the defensive line, but that didn’t occur in free agency. It would not be surprising if the Steelers addressed the position at 21st overall in the draft.

Black is projected to be a developmental nose tackle in the NFL, however. He’s projected to be a Day 3 pick.

Pittsburgh is looking to replicate a similar blueprint to that of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and the Steelers have made the trenches a point of emphasis since Khan and assistant general manager Andy Weidl were hired in 2022. The Steelers have spent five draft picks in the past two drafts in the third-round or earlier on positions all along the defensive and offensive lines.
