Steelers LB Aubrey Miller

The Steelers hosted seven players for workouts on Tuesday, according to the NFL Transaction Wire. Among them were two tight ends and five linebackers. They hosted tight ends E.J. Jenkins and Scotty Washington and linebackers Caleb Johnson, Darryl Johnson, Aubrey Miller, Charles Snowden, and Vi Jones.

Pittsburgh signed Washington and Caleb Johnson to the practice squad.

Caleb Johnson joined the Jets this spring as an undrafted free agent out of Miami. He played in four preseason games with the Jets, recording 13 tackles, but was released in August and has not been with another team in the meantime.

A 6-foot-1, 235-pound native of Murrieta, California, Johnson started his college career at Texas, where he redshirted one season. Then he transferred to Fullerton College before joining UCLA and then the Hurricanes. He played in two seasons with the Bruins and one in Coral Gables. He recorded 137 tackles, 11 for a loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defended.

Washington joined the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest in 2020 and spent two seasons in Cincinnati without appearing in a game. After being waived by the Bengals in 2022, he caught on with the Patriots’ practice squad. He was elevated for one game against his former team on Dec. 24, and he played 22 snaps and did not record any statistics.

The Patriots re-signed Washington for 2023, but he was waived on Aug. 27 and has not caught on with another team since.

A 6-foot-5, 247-pound native of Washington, D.C., Washington caught 110 passes for 1,676 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Demon Deacons from 2015-19. His best season came as a redshirt senior in 2019, when he hauled in 35 passes for 607 yards and seven scores.

Snowden comes from Virginia, where he played as a hybrid off-ball linebacker and edge rusher. His size stands out at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds. Since coming into the NFL undrafted in 2021, Snowden signed with the Bears and had a two-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay was released on August 29th in final cut-downs. In his career, Snowden has played two games.

Aubrey Miller comes from Jackson State, where he played under Coach Deion Sanders. He was undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and joined the Miami Dolphins but was released. Miller was named to the First-Team All-SWAC team for two years and racked up 117 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and two sacks in his senior season.

Darryl Johnson is another HBCU player coming out of North Carolina A&T. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills but did not last long there. Since being released in 2020, he has spent time in Carolina, Seattle, and San Francisco. He has two sacks and 34 tackles in his career.

Jones came out of North Carolina State in 2022, going undrafted. He started his college career at USC before transferring. After signing with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, Jones played in three games a year ago, but the team cut him out of training camp this year. He did not record a statistic in those games.

Jenkins came out of Georgia Tech and was undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. The New York Jets signed him, and he made some plays in the preseason but did not make the final roster. Jenkins started at St. Francis (PA) before transferring to Georgia Tech, where he would have a solid career with the Yellow Jackets.
