Steelers Injury News: Three Starters Miss Practice

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t get a lot of good news on Sunday, and the injury front will not give more optimism coming out of the 24-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

While the team did not practice on Monday, they sent out an estimated injury report that did not look good. Kenny Pickett’s ankle injury will have him out this week after surgery. Mike Tomlin did not provide a timetable, but it is not season-ending. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks and did not practice. The team will not place him on injured reserve.

Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, in his first game back from a hamstring injury, suffered a broken hand but could play through it. He would have practiced fully on Monday despite the injury. Defensive tackle Montravius Adams will play and would have practiced fully with his ankle injury.

The rest of the news looks bad, and Tomlin had no further postgame update on the ailments of Elandon Roberts (groin), Isaac Seumalo (shoulder), and James Pierre (shoulder), all of whom are dealing with ailments that could hold them out. All three missed practice on Monday.

If Roberts can not play, the team will contact Blake Martinez and Myles Jack for help. Nate Herbig would start for the injured Seumalo. Also on the offensive line, center Mason Cole is dealing with a neck injury and would have been limited.

The most concerning new injury might be standout rookie Keeanu Benton, who is dealing with an oblique injury. He was limited in practice.

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson and outside linebacker T.J. Watt were banged-up but not listed on the injury report.
