PITTSBURGH — Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith did not practice on Thursday as he continues to be bothered by a groin injury, while Kendrick Green and Tyson Alualu returned to full participation.

Highsmith was limited in practice on Wednesday, but did not take the field at all on Thursday, and didn’t even participate with the rest of the group in individual periods, putting his availability for Sunday in significant doubt.

If he is unable to play on Sunday, Melvin Ingram would be expect to step up at right outside linebacker, but the Steelers are likely planning on using Ingram a good bit at left outside linebacker, where T.J. Watt is expected to play, but just began team practices on Wednesday.

That would seemingly elevate first-year player Jamir Jones into at least a part-time role. Jones led the Steelers in sacks in the preseason, but has no NFL experience.

Alualu, who did not practice on Wednesday with an elbow ailment, was listed as a full participant for Thursday. Green was listed as limited on Wednesday with a thumb injury, before working in full on Thursday.
