Pittsburgh Steelers Injury Updates: Beanie Bishop expects to play against the Lions, Roman Wilson steps up rehab work.
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be rounding into health as the team reaches the end of the preseason, but the status of several of the team’s players remains unclear for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8.
Cornerback Beanie Bishop said that he intends to play in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Detroit Lions, after unexpectedly missing the Week 2 preseason game against the Houston Texans last week. Bishop’s injury has still not been revealed, but he returned to practice on Wednesday and appears on pace to play this week.
“It’s been a day by day thing. I’m feeling great now,” Bishop said. “It’s another week to be able to get film on tape and go against another opponent. … I’m excited. Detroit’s not too far from home. I might have a few family members come out to the game.”
Wide receiver Roman Wilson (left ankle sprain) and running back Jaylen Warren (hamstring) have been ruled out of this weekend’s preseason finale, but appear to still have hope to be able to play in the season opener.
Wilson said he feels confident in his ankle and was doing individual work at practice on Wednesday. Warren walked through the Steelers locker room without any kind of sleeve wrap on his hamstring after practice, and does not appear to be significantly injured. Tomlin did not give a specific update on their status, but reiterated that he does not believe that Warren will be out long term.
