Steelers Injury Updates: Ben Roethlisberger Did Not Practice Thursday

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not participate in his team’s practice on Thursday, the Steelers announced.

Roethlisberger has been bothered by a right shoulder injury that he said on Wednesday was suffered much earlier this season than he or the team have let on.

But he has been a regular participant in the team’s Thursday and Friday practice sessions thus far.

Mason Rudolph would be in line to start on Sunday against the Detroit Lions if Roethlisberger cannot. He and third-stringer Dwayne Haskins are the only other quarterbacks on the Pittsburgh roster, with Josh Dobbs on injured reserve. Haskins has not dressed for a game this season.

Roethlisberger has also dealt with hip and left pectoral injuries this season, but has not missed a game due to injury since returning from the elbow surgery that cost him the majority of the 2019 season.
