Steelers Injury Updates: Ben Roethlisberger Missed Practice Saturday with Knee Issue, Questionable to Play Monday

Three Steelers missed the team’s final practice session of the week on Saturday, including starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger did not practice for the second straight day with a knee injury and is officially listed as questionable to play when the Steelers host Washington on Monday at 5 p.m.

He finished the team’s Wednesday evening game against Baltimore without apparent issue and was not mentioned as a player with potential injury issues when head coach Mike Tomlin spoke with the media on Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon.

Roethlisberger was listed as not practicing on the team’s estimated injury report from Thursday. The Steelers had the day off. Roethlisberger typically misses the team’s first practice session of the week. He also did not practice on Friday.

Roethlisberger has already played once this season when not practicing at all in the week leading up to a game, when he was on the COVID-19 reserve list as a close contact of COVID-19 positive tight end Vance McDonald before the Steelers visited the Dallas Cowboys in November.

If Roethlisberger is unable to play, third-year quarterback Mason Rudolph would likely start in his place. Rudolph has played in three games this season in relief of Roethlisberger and has completed 3 of 4 passes for 9 yards.
