Steelers Injury Updates: Chase Claypool Misses Practice; Allen, Brooks Return
PITTSBURGH — Chase Claypool missed the Steelers’ training camp session on Wednesday after reportedly suffering a minor ankle sprain late in the team’s Tuesday practice.
Head coach Mike Tomlin did not have an update on his status after practice. Claypool’s availability for Saturday’s third preseason games against the Detroit Lions remains in question.
James Washington was elevated to the first team in Claypool’s absence and Cody White played with the second team.
Returning to action on Wednesday were defensive back Antoine Brooks Jr. (left hamstring), who had been out since the preseason opener against Dallas on Aug. 5, and Marcus Allen (undisclosed), who had missed practice for the first time on Tuesday.
Running back Benny Snell Jr. (undisclosed) and Ray-Ray McCloud (right knee) worked a limited practice schedule, while Kalen Ballage (lower body) and James Washington (right knee) were full go.
Outside linebacker T.J. Watt remains limited to individual work. Defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt did not practice at all for the second straight day.
