Steelers Injury Updates: Dotson, Highsmith among 8 Out vs. Seattle
PITTSBURGH — Eight Steelers players are not dressed due to injury for the team’s preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks at Acrisure Stadium.
Running back Benny Snell Jr. (right knee), fullback Derek Watt (shoulder), left guard Kevin Dotson (right ankle), linebacker Genard Avery (groin), linebacker Alex Highsmith (ribs), linebacker Marcus Allen (ankle) and Anthony Miller (undisclosed) are all not dressed for the game.
Several Steelers players that have been dealing with minor injuries are dressed, though it’s not clear how much they will play. Wide receivers Chase Claypool (shoulder) and Diontae Johnson (hip flexor), running back Mateo Durant (undisclosed), tight ends Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) and Zach Gentry (undisclosed), safety Miles Killebrew (pec) and defensive linemen Tyson Alualu (knee) and Larry Ogunjobi (foot) are all active for the game.
Kendrick Green is expected to start left guard in place of Dotson. The two have been battling for the starting role. Dotson warmed up on his own before the game and looked close to a return.
Derrek Tuszka will replace Highsmith and Avery at outside linebacker, with Tuzar Skipper, Delontae Scott and newly acquired Ron’Dell Carter and Hamilcar Rashed Jr. providing depth.
With Snell on the shelf, Anthony McFarland Jr. and Jaylen Warren will move up the depth chart at running back.
For the Seattle Seahawks, running back Rashad Penny is among the players expected to be held ou.
