Steelers Injury Updates: Dotson Practiced Fully; Washington Latest in Injure Groin
Steelers left guard Kevin Dotson returned to practice in full on Thursday as the team continued its preparations to face the Denver Broncos at Heinz Field on Sunday.
Dotson left the team’s game against the Green Bay Packers him last Sunday with a hip flexor injury and missed Wednesday’s first practice session of the week, but was a full participant on Thursday. Assuming he practices again on Friday, Dotson should be expected to once again start at left guard for the Steelers.
Cornerback Cam Sutton, who was also injured against the Packers, did not practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. It appears likely Sutton will miss the game against Denver with a group injury.
If Sutton cannot play, James Pierre, Arthur Maulet and Tre Norwood are the most likely recipients of his playing time.
Wide receiver Chase Claypool was limited in practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. He missed the Packers game with a hamstring injury suffered in the previous week of practice. His status for Sunday’s game remains up in the air.
Wide receiver James Washington was limited in practice on Thursday with a groin injury. Washington is a new addition to the team’s injury list.
Washington played in place of Claypool in Green Bay. If both players aren’t able to dress, practice squad receiver Cody White is likely the next player to step up on the outside. White has been activated from the practice squad for each of the last two games. He would need to be added to the 53-man roster in order to play for a third week.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (pec, hip), defensive lineman Cam Heyward (neck), guard Trai Turner (illness) and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) were all full participants on Thursday.
Reserve guard Rashaad Coward was downgraded from limited to out on Thursday.
