PITTSBURGH Team leaders quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and linebacker T.J. Watt enjoyed a light day without pads while several other Steelers remained out during practice on Saturday, August 31, 2021.

The fans inside the stadium on a day that had plenty to entertain them for Fan Fest outside of Heinz Field were only able to see Roethlisberger toss around the football with coaches. He stayed in shorts throughout the day. This comes after he sat out Friday night’s practice all together.

Offensive tackle Zach Banner, who is expected to be ready for the start of the season if not sooner, is still not ready to join practice fully in pads. Tight end Eric Ebron and center B.J. Finney both did not participate at all. Defensive end Stephon Tuitt still also appears to be coming along slowly.

The only new injury news from the day was offensive tackle Anthony Coyle limping off the field under his own power.

As far as players who are now back in pads, center James Hassenauer and guard Kevin Dotson were back out there in full uniform.
