Steelers Injury Updates: Ebron, Samuels Held Out of Practice, Cassius Marsh Limps Off
PITTSBURGH — Outside linebacker Cassius Marsh limped off the practice field and his undergoing further evaluation, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said following his team’s eighth training camp session of the 2021 season at Heinz Field on Friday.
Tomlin did not provide any insight into the severity of Marsh’s ailment, who was unable to finish the day.
Tight end Eric Ebron and running back Jaylen Samuels were both scratched from practice Friday. Samuels was held out after limping off the field himself on Thursday. Ebron is still battling right elbow discomfort.
Inside linebacker Devin Bush continues to make progress in his recovery from the torn ACL that prematurely ended his 2020 campaign. Bush did participate in team drills, but was on a snap count.
Zach Banner (ACL recovery) was in street clothes on Friday, but kept a watchful, attentive eye over the day’s proceedings.
Center J.C. Hassenauer (left knee), guard Kevin Dotson (undisclosed) and left tackle Chukwuma Okorafor (undisclosed) were all limitted again.
The Steelers are still slowly working back outside linebacker T.J. Watt and defensive end Stephon Tuitt. Watt still has yet to appear in full-speed team drill this camp.
Cornerback Joe Haden participated in individual drills, but was not factor in the team portions of Friday’s practice.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had the day off, which opened the door for Mason Rudolph to take the bulk of the reps with the first team. Defensive end Cam Heyward was also given an off day Friday.
