Steelers Injury Updates: Myles Jack, Larry Ogunjobi Miss Practice on Thursday

Steelers DT Larry Ogunjobi

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi and linebacker Myles Jack both missed practice with injury on Thursday as the team continued its preparations at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for its Week 13 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Both players were limited participants in Wednesday’s extremely light practice, but with the Steelers putting forth a more normal session on Thursday, neither were able to suit up. The Steelers practiced indoors on Thursday, with helmets but not shoulder pads.

Ogunjobi has been dealing with a toe injury. Chris Wormley would be in line to replace him if he’s unable to suit up on Sunday.

Jack has been dealing with a knee injury for several weeks now. Robert Spillane is the next in line to replace Jack, but Spillane missed last week’s game and has been limited in each of the team’s practices this week with a back injury. Rookie Mark Robinson is next on the team’s depth chart at inside linebacker. He has not played this season.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he was optimistic that both Jack and Ogunjobi, along with other players battling minor injuries such as T.J. Watt (ribs), Mason Cole (foot) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (ribs) will be able to play on Sunday. Watt was limited for the second straight day. Fitzpatrick practiced in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday.

There was one new Steelers injury, as running back Benny Snell was limited with a knee injury. Starter Najee Harris did not practice for the second straight day with his oblique injury and appears to be trending toward missing Sunday’s game.

Backup Jaylen Warren, who missed the Colts game with a hamstring injury, practiced in full for the second straight day on Thursday and said he expects to play this Sunday. If Snell cannot dress, Warren and Anthony McFarland would be expected to handle the rushing duties with Jason Huntley and Master Teague other options to be elevated from the practice squad.

Wide receiver Miles Boykin looks set to return after missing one game with an oblique injury. He practiced in full for the second straight day on Thursday.

Cornerback Ahekllo Witherspoon (hamstring) did not practice again and appears not close to a return. He hasn’t played since before the bye week.
