PITTSBURGH — Steelers wide receiver James Washington missed his second straight practice on Tuesday with a right knee injury after being banged up in practice on Sunday.

But the receiver isn’t expected to be out much longer.

“He got evaluated [Monday],” head coach Mike Tomlin said before practice Tuesday. “He might miss a day or two, but we’re not expecting him to miss a significant amount of time.”

With Washington not practicing on Tuesday, he will likely not participate in Thursday’s second preseason game at Philadelphia.

He was among a number of Steelers that did not practice on Tuesday. Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (right knee), defensive back Antoine Brooks. Jr. (left hamstring) and running backs Kalen Ballage (lower body) and Benny Snell Jr. (undisclosed) all did not practice as the team’s session was abbreviated by a pair of lightning warnings. Cornerback Joe Haden appeared to have the day off. Outside linebacker T.J. Watt and defensive end Stephon Tuitt have still not practiced in full.

Washington has reportedly requested a trade from the Steelers, something that the team has denied. He saw his role reduced from 2019 to 2020 and has been the fourth receiver throughout training camp.
