Steelers Injury Updates: Levi Wallace, Larry Ogunjobi Missed Practice Thursday
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Levi Wallace and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi missed their second consecutive practice session of the week on Thursday and appear to be trading toward missing the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday.
Wallace suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. It appears likely that he will be replaced by Ahkello Witherspoon, who was a full participant in practice for the second straight day. Witherspoon has been out since suffering a hamstring injury against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.
Cam Sutton, Art Maulet and James Pierre will likely continue to rotate through the other two cornerback spots as they did against the Dolphins. Backup Josh Jackson was limited on Thursday with a groin injury, but that was an improvement in his status after missing Wednesday’s practice.
Ogunjobi also missed his second straight practice with a knee injury. He has been banged up a lot recently, leaving the game against the Buffalo Bills with a back injury and missing practice time in three consecutive weeks. It’s unclear if he will be able to suit up on Sunday.
Chris Wormley would likely start at defensive tackle in place of Ogunjobi if he cannot play, with Montravius Adams, Tyson Alualu, Isaiahh Loudermilk and Chris Wormley also serving as depth.
The Steelers got increased participation on Thursday from wide receiver and kick returner Steven Sims. He was a full participant after being limited on Wednesday. Sims missed the Dolphins game with a hamstring injury.
Nose tackle Montravius Adams and tight end Pat Freiermuth both practiced in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Cam Heyward was given the day off.
