PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Myles Jack is doubtful to play in the team’s game against the Carolina Panthers with a groin injury, according to the team’s injury report for Week 15 released on Friday afternoon.
It’s not clear when he suffered the injury. He finished the team’s Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens and was not listed by head coach Mike Tomlin in his post-game or Tuesday injury reports, but Jack did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday’s session.
Robert Spillane will slide into the starting lineup alongside Devin Bush at inside linebacker, with rookie Mark Robinson and special teamer Marcus Allen serving as backups. Robinson will likely be active for just the third time this season, but he has yet to play any snaps of defense.
Jack also missed the Steelers’ Week 10 win over the New Orleans Saints with a knee injury. Spillane missed the Week 12 game at Indianapolis.
Starting quarterback Kenny Pickett is also doubtful to play and remains in the concussion protocol. Tomlin addressed his status earlier on Friday.
Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (toe) was a full participant on Friday after missing the first two practices of the week.
Three Steelers were limited in practice on Friday but are expected to be healthy enough to play: tight end Pat Freiermuth (foot), wide receiver Diontae Johnson (hip) and cornerback Josh Jackson (ankle).
