PITTSBURGH — Second-year Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Nick Herbig is pushing to make his return from injury and play this week against the Washington Commanders.

Herbig has been out since suffering a right hamstring injury in the Steelers’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 6. He was back on the practice field on Monday, though he was not a full participant, but said he feels good and plans to practice this week. If all goes well, he could make his return against the Commanders this Sunday.

Herbig has good reason to want to get back on the field and continue his torrid pass-rushing pace. Herbig has 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in 4 1/2 games before his injury. He had just three sacks in his entire 17-game rookie season last year.

The Steelers also seem set to get center Zach Frazier, running back Cordarrelle Patterson and quarterback Justin Fields back from injury this week.
