PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers got a mixed bag of injury news on Thursday as they finished their preparation for their preseason finale against the Detroit Lions on Saturday. Linebacker Payton Wilson said he is “100%” after a concussion scare, and Alex Highsmith might return this week, but something is wrong with starting cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Wilson said he is 100% after leaving the team’s Week 2 preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday to be evaluated for a concussion. He suggested that him not returning to the game was more about NFL rules than the way he felt, and said he’s felt fine since then.

“I’m all good,” he said. “I’m 100% ready to go, super excited for this weekend. I got banged up a little bit, got hit in the back of the head. The NFL is pretty strict about stuff like that. … I’m fine. I’ve been fine since everything came back, pretty much right after the game.”

Highsmith suffered a groin injury late in training camp. He has been working at practice, but did not suit up in the second preseason game against the Bills. He said he’s been trying to get into a preseason game since the injury.

“We’ll see,” Highsmith said. “My status hasn’t been determined yet for this Saturday.”

Porter has missed practice time with an undisclosed ailment this week. He has been around the team and in the locker room, but Cory Trice Jr. confirmed that he’s been working with the first team defense. Tomlin did not address Porter’s status in his press conference.

Backup outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon was wearing a boot on his right ankle at practice on Thursday. It seems doubtful that he’ll be able to play on Saturday.
