Former West Virginia center Chase Behrndt is heading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie camp, according to Michael Schottey.

Behrndt, a redshirt-senior, was a two-year starter for the Mountaineers during his time in Morgantown. After redshirting in 2016 and adding depth in 2017 and 2018, Behrndt became a full-time starter in 2019.

During the 2019 season, Behrndt started four games a center but a shoulder injury forced him to move to right guard, where he made six additional starts. He started nine games at center in 2020 and was named to the All-Big 12 fourth team. He was not credited with allowing a sack in either 2019 or 2020.

Behrndt is the second player to receive a rookie-camp invite from the Steelers, following Slippery Rock quarterback Roland Rivers III. The team can invite unto five players on a try-out basis, in addition to players on the 90-man roster.
