Kevin Dotson Graded Top Preseason Guard by Pro Football Focus
After a seesaw of reports questioning his conditioning and an ambiguous statement from Mike Tomlin leading up to training camp, where he was initially working with second-team players, Kevin Dotson has worked his way into first-team reps and high regards at Pro Football Focus.
The Steelers left guard and 2020 fourth-round pick received a 92.9 PFF grade, ranking first amongst guards, with 52 pass-blocking snaps and zero pressures allowed this preseason.Â

Dotson did not see action against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game but took the field against the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions to garner the distinction.
Dotson’s play and the play of the Steelers offensive line has been opening eyes, as PFF rates them second as a team this preseason.

Doton will start the season as the starting left guard after filling in for Matt Feiler in 2020, who was placed on injured reserve late in the year dealing with a pectoral injury. The 24-year-old fourth-round pick played in 13 regular-season games last season, starting in four contests.
The Steelers open the 2021 season in Buffalo on September 12 at 1 p.m.
