Steelers Land Rising QB Prospect in Latest Mock Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers are projected to draft Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

It remains to be seen who the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will be for the 2025 season as they are stuck waiting on Aaron Rodgers to make a decision. Until that changes, many believe the Steelers will have to address quarterback high in the 2025 NFL Draft.
NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah is among those who think that as he has Pittsburgh selecting Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart at pick No. 21 in his latest mock draft.
“The Steelers’ plan at quarterback is not completely clear at the moment,” Jeremiah writes. “Even if they were to land 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, they would still need a long-term option at the position, so they take another swing here with Dart.”
Dart has been rising up draft boards over the past couple of months, but he is currently the consensus No. 34 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database big board and the Steelers had other interesting options still available in Jeremiah’s mock draft.
Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, who many have pegged as the top wide receiver in the class, Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant were all still on the board.
However, Jeremiah seems to believe the Steelers desperation at quarterback would outweigh everyone else.
Dart is an intriguing prospect. He is only 21 and has thrown for 10,617 yards, 72 touchdowns and 22 interceptions over the past three years at Mississippi. He also rushed for 1,500 yards and 12 more scores.
The Steelers did not pay much attention to the quarterbacks, including Dart, at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, though.

Instead, head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan and assistant general manager Andy Weidl spent most of their time obsessing over the defensive lineman.
So although the Steelers only have quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson under contract for the 2025 season, reaching on Dart in the first round still seems like a stretch.
