The NFL league office is apparently not a fan of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander. Alexander was hit with a big fine for a helmet hit this preseason, only to have it overturned upon review.
Now, he’s been hit with another hefty hit to his wallet. Alexander was fined $43,709 for unnecessary roughness against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3 for a late hit against running back Josh Jacobs, the league announced on Saturday.

Alexander was not flagged on the play. He can once again appeal. The amount of the fine is determined by his status as a repeat offender. Alexander is only earning $1.165 million in salary this season. His weekly game check is only $64,722 before taxes.
In addition to Alexander, safety Miles Killebrew was also fined $13,792 for unnecessary roughness for a helmet hit on a punt block.

That play also did not draw a flag on the field.
A notable absence from the fine list was Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was not fined for the controversial roughing the passer penalty that helped the Raiders get back into the game.
In total, 34 fines were assessed league-wide for Week 3, ranging from $87,418 to Atlanta’s Kieth Smith to $4,167 to Green Bay’s Ben Sims. All but two of the fines were for unnecessary roughness.
