Steelers LB Patrick Queen Gets Revenge vs. Ravens
PITTSBURGH — The Baltimore Ravens didn’t want Patrick Queen back.
The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker made his former team pay. In points.
Queen forced Baltimore tight end Isaiah Likely to cough the football up, then Queen hugged it to set Steelers kicker Chris Boswell up for his third field goal make of the first half of Sunday’s rivalry matchup.
The Steelers headed into the locker room with a 9-7 advantage.
After being drafted by the Ravens in the initial round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the 25-year-old LSU product spent the first four years of his professional career in Charm City. He was a Pro Bowler and second-team Associated Press All-Pro last season, registering a career-high 133 total tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Before that campaign, though, Baltimore declined his fifth-year option, then it gave fellow linebacker Roquan Smith a five-year, $100 million deal.
The Ravens didn’t offer him, so Queen signed a three-year, $41 million contract with Pittsburgh in free agency this past spring.
After plucking the ball out of Likely’s grasp and scooping it up, Patrick Queen ran to the end zone to greet Terrible Towel-waving fans with his arms wide open. Teammate DeShon Elliott, another former Raven, followed behind him.
Queen said earlier this week that he hasn’t spoken with Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh or general manager Eric DeCosta since departing. They surely took notice of him after forcing that turnover.
The linebacker has been turning heads in Pittsburgh with his play as of late. At halftime against Baltimore, he had seven total tackles — as many as he had all game when he paced the Steelers in a road win over Washington last week. He had eight tackles and a quarterback pressure against the New York Giants before the bye.
