team announced on Thursday.

Scott, 29, served as the Steelers’ backup swing tackle for the 2022 season, meaning the team will need to address its depth at that spot throughout the remainder of the offseason.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Scott did not get a lot of action in 2022 thanks to the extreme levels of durability exhibited by the Steelers starting offensive linemen. Scott played in just 31 snaps of offense last season. Thirty of those 31 came as an eligible extra lineman, and only one came at right tackle.

Scott signed with Pittsburgh last May and beat out Joe Haeg in training camp to be the No. 3 tackle. Guard/tackle Jesse Davis, the team’s other veteran backup offensive lineman from 2022, remains a free agent.

Originally an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State, Scott spent his first two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018-19. He then went to the Carolina Panthers, where he started nine games over two seasons while working with current Steelers offensive line coach Pat Meyer.

Scott is the fifth Steelers free agent to sign with another team this offseason, joining inside linebacker Devin Bush (Seattle Seahawks), outside linebacker Malik Reed (Miami Dolphins), inside linebacker Robert Spillane (Las Vegas Raiders) and cornerback Cameron Sutton (Detroit Lions).
