The Steelers lost guard Fred Johnson on waivers to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday after releasing Johnson on Friday.
Johnson was cut along with linebacker Jay Elliott on Friday in order for the Steelers to make room for running back Trey Edmunds and quarterback Paxton Lynch on their active roster.
Edmunds and Lynch were promoted from the practice squad in order to compensate for injuries to Jaylen Samuels and Mason Rudolph.
A 6-foot-seven, 326-pound guard, Johnson signed with the Steelers after the 2019 NFL draft as an undrafted free agent out of Florida.
He did not play in any games for the Steelers. B.J. Finney is the primary back up at center and both guard positions. Right tackle Matt Feiler has also played guard.
The Steelers have two open spots on their practice squad following last week’s moves.
