INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers met with Michigan defensive back Dax Hill at the 2022 NFL Combine.

Hill, a former five-star recruit, has all the pedigree the Steelers love in their Michigan men. He played at free safety to start his career under Don Brown. However, after a bit, he was switched into a pure slot cornerback role. Hill has played in the slot for the last two seasons, becoming one of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL at this point. His meeting with the Steelers emphasized his commitment to the slot, and he feels the meeting went well.

“Yes, I had a formal meeting with the Steelers,” Hill said. “Our meeting went well. I felt a good vibe from the coaching staff. I think we both really liked it.”

Hill was a first-team All-Big 10 selection in 2021 after a season that saw him 69 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 quarterback hits, and 8 pass breakups. The transition from free safety gives Hill some flexibility to be played at safety in certain shells. With his athleticism, Hill should see his stock as slot cornerback rise greatly.
