INDIANAPOLIS — The Pittsburgh Steelers met with Penn State tackle Rasheed Walker at the 2022 NFL Combine, Walker said Thursday.

“It was pretty standard,” Walker said. “Going over a little bit of film, asking me a few personal questions. Asking me about my versatility, trying to figure me out.”

The Steelers have been meeting with a number of offensive line prospects, including first-round options like Charles Cross, Tyler Linderbaum, Kenyon Green and Trevor Penning, but also Day Two and Day Three options.

Walker falls into the middle category, with an average draft position of 91st according to the NFL Mock Draft Database. If the Steelers take a quarterback or other position early, they could land Walker on the draft’s second day.

Walker is just doing interviews this week, saving his on-field and bench press workouts for his pro day, and you can bet the Steelers will be there. They are an annual attendee at the Lions’ pro day and have two on their roster, linebacker Marcus Allen and tight end Pat Freiermuth, the latter of which is close with Walker and has been talking him through the draft process.

“That’s my guy. We came in together in 2018,” Walker said. “He said (Pittsburgh is) nice, man. Just take care of your body and be prepared, because as soon as you leave college, you’re a professional. That’s how you have to conduct yourselves as a professional.”

While Walker was playing his final season at Penn State, he said he was not surprised to see Freiermuth have so much success as a rookie at the next level.

“Pat’s been cold,” Walker said. “He’s always had the hands. Crisp routes. Always been disciplined. Nobody was really surprised by his success.”

The Steelers could use another player from State College to come make an immediate impact in Pittsburgh. The team also met with Lions wide receiver Jahan Dotson during their time in Indy.
