Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, Alan breaks down his key matchup for the Steelers in their Week 5 home game against the Dallas Cowboys, involving linebacker Patrick Queen.
Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys’ big-play threat, and his presence will likely need to be accounted for by multiple players in the Steelers defense. That’s going to leave tight end Jake Ferguson a lot of room to work with, and linebackers Queen and Payton Wilson, safety DeShon Elliott and slot cornerback Beanie Bishop, are going to have to handle the big tight end in all that room.
With the Cowboys unable to run the ball, the short passing game to Ferguson and back Rico Dowdle might be the only chance they have to sustain drives on offense.
Shutting it down will be key to the Steelers.
