The Pittsburgh Steelers were reportedly close to a trade for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk before his season-ending injury. The Steelers and Jaguars were deep in talks for Pittsburgh to acquire the veteran playmaker, according to a report on Saturday by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
As luck would have it, that was until Kirk suffered a season-ending collarbone injury against the Green Bay Packers. At that point, it was yet another option lost.
The Steelers were in the process of trying to get a deal done for Christian Kirk, and league sources told ESPN there was a reasonable chance that the Jaguars wide receiver was going to wind up in Pittsburgh until he broke his collarbone last Sunday.https://t.co/8YDTPmxThd

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the market for another wide receiver ever since they traded away Diontae Johnson. They missed out on drafting a receiver, the Brandon Aiyuk sweepstakes, and multiple in-season options that included Davante Adams and Deandre Hopkins.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching, it appears the Steelers are willing to turn over all stones to add another playmaker. Kirk would have made sense as he is only 27 years old and has a manageable contract that runs through the 2025 season.
Currently, the Steelers’ only steady options on the roster at wide receiver are Calvin Austin III and Van Jefferson. Though Austin appears to be on the rise and Jefferson has made some plays the past two weeks, the Steelers would be smart to continue evaluating options in the trade market.
The Steelers have a bye week this week and the trade deadline approaches on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 4 PM. There is still time to add another receiver for at least depth purposes, but the options are dwindling.
