Steelers Need to Avoid Raiders-Chargers Tie to Make Postseason

The Steelers have the help they needed and they did what they had to do. After the Steelers defeated the Ravens –, the Steelers now only have one more hurdle to clear before they can earn a potential playoff bid.

That bid comes with a bit of an odd crux, though, as they need the Chargers and Raiders to not tie on Sunday Night Football. Should both teams tie, they would make the playoffs over the Steelers via their tiebreaking victories of Pittsburgh earlier this season.

It is an unlikely event, and Chargers Head Coach Brandon Staley did say he would not play for the tie. Given they are divisional rivals as well, there is certainly incentive just past a playoff birth for both to win this game. The winner of the game would knock out the much-despised rival while punching their ticket to the dance.

Still, it is always possible, as the Steelers proved earlier this year when they tied with the Detroit Lions. Steelers fans should watch this game especially closely as the game draws on.
