Steelers Nominate Central Valley’s Mark Lyons for Don Shula High School Coach of the Year
The NFL announced all 32 nominations for 2021 Don Shula High School Coach of the Year Award on Thursday, and the Pittsburgh Steelers nominated Central Valley head coach Mark Lyons, who led his squad to both WPIAL and PIAA titles in 2020.
The only football coach in Central Valley’s 11-year history, Lyons owns a 110-29 record. Good enough for a 79.1% winning percentage, the Warriors averaged ten wins per season under his leadership.
Lyons also led the Warriors to a WPIAL title in 2014.
The Steelers’ nominee has never won in the ten-year history of the award.
