Steelers Not Among Teams Showing ‘Significant Interest’ in Deebo Samuel
The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't among the teams showing significant interest in trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

The San Francisco 49ers are planning to honor wide receiver Deebo Samuel’s trade request, but it seems like the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to have a lot of competition to land the star wide receiver.
According to Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans are the two teams that have shown significant interest in trading for Samuel. The Steelers, along with the Denver Broncos, have only checked in.
Washington and Houston both have ties to Samuel. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and Commanders general manager Adam Peters were both in San Francisco with Samuel.
However, it is a bit surprising the wide receiver-needy Steelers aren’t among those making a strong run at the former Pro Bowler.
Samuel, 29, is coming off a bit of a disappointing season in which he recorded just 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns, but Pittsburgh has been searching for another wide receiver since failing to trade for 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk last offseason.
Money isn’t an issue for the Steelers, either. Pittsburgh has just under $60 million in salary cap space, per Over The Cap, and Samuel only costs $17.55 million in 2025, none of which is guaranteed.
Samuel does come at a risk since he hasn’t been able to stay healthy in any of the past three seasons, but he seems like a risk worth taking for the Steelers.

There is still plenty of time for Samuel’s trade market to change, but it looks like Pittsburgh is starting to fall behind, leaving further questions for how the team is planning to address wide receiver this offseason.
In his six NFL seasons, Samuel has caught 334 passes for 4,792 yards and 22 touchdowns. His best season came in 2021, when he caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns and led the NFL in yards per reception.
