Steelers Officially Clinch Playoff Spot with Miami Loss

Hours before the game against Buffalo even kicks off, the Steelers know they are headed to the postseason. Pittsburgh officially clinched a playoff spot with Miami’s loss to Kansas City.

This now gets the Steelers back in the postseason for the first time since 2017. Pittsburgh fans had to endure failing to reach the playoffs in both 2018 and 2019, something rare for the Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin, who has never led the Steelers to a losing record as head coach.

Despite a solid effort by the Dolphins, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to win the game. Kansas City’s win also moves the Chiefs to 12-1 on the season. They currently sit as the number one overall seed, but would fall back to the 2nd seed if the Steelers are able to defeat the Bills on Sunday Night Football.

With so much of the conversation the last few weeks comparing the Steelers and the Chiefs, Kansas City once again played a bit worse than their normal standard, most notably with Mahomes throwing 3 uncharacteristic interceptions.

Miami remains in playoff positioning despite the loss. As of now, the Dolphins are sitting as the final Wild Card.
