Steelers OLB T.J. Watt Registers 60th Career Sack vs. Bears, 4th Fastest to 60 in NFL History

PITTSBURGH — T.J. Watt simply continues to impress. The star pass rusher who became the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL just before the start of the regular season now can add another notch to his belt. With two sacks in the first half against the Chicago Bears, Watt is now up to sixty career sacks overall in only his fifth career season.

Watt is the fourth-fastest player to 60 sacks in NFL history, behind only Reggie White (50 games), J.J. Watt (66) and Derrick Thomas (67).

On the all-time Steelers list, that passes Keith Willis for seventh all-time, who has 59 sacks on his career. It puts him into a tie for sixth with Joey Porter, who also has sixty career sacks with the Steelers. In order to move into fifth-place, he will have to continue to outpace teammate Cam Heyward, who has 60.5 career sacks.

That brings Watt up to 10.5 sacks on the season, which is second only behind Cleveland’s Myles Garrett with 12. Watt will continue to look to add impressive accolades, including the elusive Defensive Player of the Year title that he always seems to be in the conversation for, but has never won proper just yet.

It will be a competition between he and Garrett until the end of the season, but Watt is still making a mighty fine case to be considered the best edge rusher in football.
