Steelers OLB T.J. Watt Updates Injury Status vs. Ravens

PITTSBURGH — Outside linebacker T.J. Watt expects to be a game-time decision for Saturday’s Week 16 contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens, he said after practice on Thursday.

“We’ll see Sunday, or Saturday I guess I should say,” Watt said. “I felt pretty good this week. Obviously, it’s a short week, but I felt pretty good.”

Watt suffered the low left ankle sprain late in last Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. With the Steelers on a short week ahead of an even shorter week next week, the practice schedule was very limited this week, with Thursday’s session the lone actual practice. 

“There’s not a lot of things you do in practice on a short week like this to push it,” he said. “We’ll have to see how it feels on Saturday, but I feel pretty good right now.”

Watt said that there is a possibility of him injuring the ankle further if he pushes things too hard, in addition to the pain he’s dealing with, so those are factors in whether or not he’ll be able to play,  as well.

“At this point, everybody’s dealing with stuff,” he said. “If I can go, I’ll go.”

Watt also would be willing to play on a limited snap basis or in limited roles if necessary.

“I’m trying to be out there as much as I possibly can, so obviously, I wouldn’t want to do that, but if that’s the only thing I can do, I’m gonna take what I can get.”
