Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Zach Banner hosted a Mother’s Day dinner Friday night for Mothers of Murdered Sons (MOMS), a nonprofit organization comprised of women who have lost sons and other family members to gun violence.

“It was my honor to host them for a Mother’s Day dinner and hear their stories and thoughts on ending gun violence,” Banner tweeted Saturday. “Black on Black crime was real for me growing up, and it is also a harsh reality for the city of Pittsburgh.”

In addition to sharing a Mother’s Day feast with the women, Banner also posed for pictures, gifted them flowers and listened to their experiences of how gun violence has affected them and their communities.

“I’m here to amplify their organization and stories. And hopefully those stories will save someone else’s life,” Banner said. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the superhero Moms around the world. Especially these ones.”
