Steelers Place Chris Boswell on Injured Reserve

The nightmare season of kicker Chris Boswell has come to an end as the Steelers have placed him on injured reserve.

To replace him, the team signed Matt McCrane.

McCrane went to camp with Arizona but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

In 4 games this season with Oakland and Arizona, McCrane made 5 of 9 field goals and also went 8 for 8 on extra point attempts.

After being nothing but consistent as the Steelers kicker, Boswell was a house of cards after signing a 4-year, $20 million extension this off-season.

This season, Boswell converted on just 13 of 20 field goal attempts and also missed 5 extra points (43 of 48).

By placing him on injured reserve, it gives the team the option of bringing him to training camp next year in hopes that the 2018 season was a fluke and not the end of Boswell’s stay in Pittsburgh.
