Steelers Place ILB Marcus Allen, RT Zach Banner on COVID-19 Reserve List
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed offensive tackle Zach Banner and inside linebacker Marcus Allen on the COVID-19 reserve list, the team announced on Wednesday.
If the players have been vaccinated they will get the opportunity to test out of the COVID-19 protocol. If not, they will miss the team’s game against Kansas City this Sunday.
Banner has served as the team’s backup tackle and occasional extra tight end since returning mid-season from a knee injury. Joe Haeg would assume that role once again if Banner is unable to dress on Sunday.
Allen worked almost exclusively as the team’s Dime linebacker against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, a role he has not played much this season. Robert Spillane, who he inherited that role from, played his first game back from injury on Sunday and is probably set to grab that position back.
The two additions make three players from the 53-man roster on the COVID-19 list, as they join nose tackle Montravius Adams Sr. Practice squad guard Malcolm Pridgeon is also on the list.
