Steelers Place LG Matt Feiler on Injured Reserve, Ending His Regular Season
The Steelers have placed left guard Matt Feiler on the injured reserve list, the team announced on Monday.
Feiler, 28, has started all 13 games at left guard for the Steelers this season, but suffered a pectoral injury during the team’s Week 14 loss to Buffalo on Sunday night.
Feiler will have to spend at least the remainder of the regular season on the injured reserve list, but would be eligible to return for the Steelers’ first playoff game if he is able to return to health.
Head coach Mike Tomlin did not have an update on the severity of Feiler’s injury in the immediate aftermath of the game.
Feiler was first replaced by rookie guard Kevin Dotson. Dotson then also left the game with a pectoral injury and did not return and was replaced by center J.C. Hassenauer. Tomlin also did not update Dotson’s status going forward.
Derwin Gray, the only other guard on the 53-man roster, was inactive for Sunday’s game.
The Steelers activated defensive end/outside linebacker Cassius Marsh to take Feiler’s spot on the active roster. Marsh was signed from the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad last week.
