Steelers Players React to Mike Tomlin Extension
Pittsburgh Steelers players react positively to seeing Head Coach Mike Tomlin receive his extension from the team.
The Pittsburgh Steelers extended head coach Mike Tomlin’s contract for an additional three years, the club announced on Monday. Tomlin, who is entering his 18th season as the Steelers head coach, is the NFL’s current longest tenured coach and it will stay that way until at least 2027.
For many of the guys on the team, especially the free agent signees such as Patrick Queen and Russell Wilson, one of the main reasons that they signed with the Steelers was to be coached by Mike Tomlin. Shortly after the news of the extension broke, many of players of Tomlin’s, new and old, expressed their enthusiasm in seeing their coach’s contract extended.
Tight end Pat Freiermuth took to X to shoutout his coach while others that include Queen, DeMarvin Leal, TJ Watt and Nick Herbig all posted about it on Instagram. Former players such as Le’Veon Bell and Ryan Clark chimed in too, as Bell called Tomlin the “best in the world.”
Players around the organization are clearly fond of Tomlin and excited to see him stick around for the next few years. Now, the next step for Tomlin and the players will be admonishing the demons and nabbing their first playoff win in over seven years.
