PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their second week of OTAs at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side on Thursday, and Alan Saunders and Nick Farabaugh of Steelers Now were there to break it down. The standouts on Thursday came at the tight end position, where Darnell Washington caught two touchdown passes, including one on a bruise-inducing shovel pass.

Starter Pat Freiermuth has been a consistent standout through the first two weeks of OTAs. He showed off his passion for practice, ripping the pad out of the hand of coach Alfredo Roberts early in practice. The Steelers’ starting tight end is looking for a big season in his contract year. Elsewhere, Calvin Austin III continues to impress, though his biggest highlught on Thursday was being on the wrong end of a collision with new cornerback Donte Jackson. Much of the focus of the Steelers offense has been a search for answers at the second outside receiver position, but something Scotty Miller said on Thursday has Nick thinking that Austin might be in the mix for a piece of that role this fall.

All that and more in today’s Pittsburgh Steelers Practice Report.
