Alan Saunders and Nick Farabaugh of Steelers Now are back with another practice report from UPMC Rooney Sports Complex as the Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their second practice of rookie minicamp and the guys reacted to some breaking news from defensive captain Cam Heyward.
Alan was with Heyward in East Liberty as he gave out pizzas in partnership with Little Caesars Love Kitchen. Heyward said that he has been in contact with the Steelers about a contract and that he wants to play for three more seasons.
Nick was at rookie camp, where he talked to third-round wide receiver Roman Wilson about where he will line up in the Pittsburgh offense. Sixth-round rookie Chris Watts was at practice after missing Friday’s session for his college graduation, and pro tryouts Jonathan Ward and Anthony Averett both made their case for the 90-man roster. Ward did so by delivering a big shot to running backs coach Eddie Faulkner. Duquesne wide receiver DJ Powell was also a Day 2 rookie camp standout.
