Steelers Practice Report: D Finally Stuffs Run, More Russ Coming?
The Steelers defense finally gets a win against the rushing offense. First look at Russell Wilson.
UNITY TWP., Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers had their tenth training camp practice of 2024 on Sunday at St. Vincent College, and Alan Saunders of Steelers Now was there to break it all down.
The Steelers were back in pads after taking an unpadded practice session on Saturday, and that came with a heavy focus on the run game, as the Steelers worked an additional goal line period and also did a short-yardage period.
The defense got the best of the offense in the most physical portion of practice, which has been the opposite of how that’s gone so far, and they did it with fairly minimal contributions from the likes of Cam Heyward, Larry Ogunjobi, T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Patrick Queen was held out of practice altogether for the second straight day.
The offense used a ton of heavy packages, with two tight ends on the field almost the entire day, sometimes three, and sometimes two and fullback Jack Colletto.
For the defense, Isaiahh Loudermilk, Mark Robinson, Montravius Adams and Tyler Murray had nice stops against the run.
Finally, Russell Wilson threw his first full-team pass, calling an audible during an 11-on-11 period and throwing a six-yard out to Duece Watts.
All that and more in today’s Steelers practice report.
