Steelers Practice Report: Fields Connecting with Top WRs, Bishop Stands Out

UNITY TWP., Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers had their ninth training camp practice of 2024 on Friday at St. Vincent College, and Alan Saunders and Derrick Bell of Steelers Now were there to break it all down.

The weather played a starring role in the proceedings, with the first rain-soaked practice field of training camp, and the defense took advantage, responding from the beating the offense put on it on Friday night. Justin Fields found George Pickens twice in the end zone during seven shots, but the defense also had three sacks and an interception by Thomas Graham in the red zone period.

Russell Wilson continues to be limited in practice participation, and Fields has been taking advantage, by developing an improved connection with Pickens and fellow starting receiver Van Jefferson.

Beanie Bishop impressed in coverage, intercepting a screen pass and returning it for a pick six, but had a hard time with Calvin Austin III in a tackling drill. All that and more in today’s Steelers practice report.
