Steelers Practice Report: Justin Has Fields Day, Backs Drill Backers

Steelers Practice Report

LATROBE., Pa. —The Pittsburgh Steelers had their eighth training camp practice of 2024 on Friday at Latrobe Memorial Stadium, and Alan Saunders and Derrick Bell of Steelers Now were there to break it all down.

Justin Fields put on a spectacular performance during the team’s Friday Night Lights practice, throwing two touchdowns to George Pickens as the offense swept the defense, 7-0. But those fireworks, and the ones that were fired off around the stadium after the practice session, weren’t the only ones in downtown Latrobe on Friday.

The second iteration of the team’s backs on backers drill didn’t disappoint, and once again, it was running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren winning the day with physicality, while Darnell Washington was undefeated without breaking a sweat.

The offense also nearly swept the wide receivers vs cornerback one-on-one drills. Russell Wilson was throwing the ball for those, but once again was held out of team periods.

Finally, Broderick Jones continues to be limited by his right elbow injury, and isn’t taking any reps at left tackle. All that and more in today’s Steelers practice report.
